A series of new polymeric ferroelectric liquid crystals (PFLCs) with two chiral groups, one on each side of the core, have been synthesized. The PFLCs exhibit large spontaneous polarizations and show short response times on the order of hundreds of microseconds. The effects of molecular weight and structure on liquid crystalline properties are also studied.
