Measurements of length‐to‐width ratios of grains in polycrystalline magnesium oxide show no change in grain shape after creep deformation up to 30% compression. This observation is interpreted as implying that all the strain has been produced by grain boundary sliding, with accommodation at triple points being achieved by a process of boundary diffusion.
