The double-layer impedance between a perfectly polarizable metallic electrode and an electrolyte exhibits anomalous behavior as a function of frequency ω. This behavior is related to the surface roughness of the electrode. We introduce a random walk algorithm for calculating this frequency behavior as a power series in (1 - i ω) -1 . In two limits the coefficients appearing in this series can be related directly to properties of the electrode surface. We apply this algorithm to the calculation of the impedance of a two-dimensional slot: the calculated impedance shows the expected ω -1/2 constant-phase angle (CPA) behavior.
