Over an eight-year period, 554 patients with multiple sclerosis received 5,635 scored neurological examinations. The evaluations concerned the scoring method, a study of the specific population, the course of the disease, the characteristics of the attacks, and the effect of treatment on the disease. Observations on the annual incidence favor the probability that the disease is endogenous. Treatment study included the effect of vitamin therapy, blood transfusions, and corticotropin administration, with only the latter two showing an objective quantitative effect.
