Survey study reveals career development mediates talent management and commitment effects on lecturer performance in university teachers, highlighting the need for institutional career pathways.
The exploration of sustainable approaches to enhancing professional performance remains an ongoing theme in universities. This research investigates the relationships among professional commitment, talent management, and lecturer performance among Indonesian lecturers, while considering the mediating role of career development. A self-administered survey was conducted among 395 university teachers in Indonesia to address the hypotheses of this research. Further analysis of the collected data was performed using structural equation modeling (SEM) with AMOS, which is appropriate for testing the hypothesized relationships among latent constructs within the proposed model. The findings show positive relationships between professional commitment and both career development and lecturer performance. Furthermore, there exists a notable association between talent management, career growth, and lecturer performance. The present study provides empirical evidence supporting the mediation role of career development in the association between talent management and lecturer performance. This study raises the need for university stakeholders to direct career development to enhance educators’ performance.
