Experimental study demonstrates enhanced oxygen evolution reaction activity in Fe-doped CoOOH electrocatalysts, indicating an effective strategy for designing low-cost catalytic materials.
Exploring low‐cost and high‐efficiency electrocatalysts for oxygen evolution reaction (OER) is of great significance. In this work, a series of Fe x /CoOOH‐ y /NF electrocatalysts are fabricated by etching Co‐MOFs/NF with Fe(NO 3 ) 3 solution. The doping of Fe makes a great contribution to the transformation of CoO x to CoOOH species. With the increase of etching time and Fe(NO 3 ) 3 concentration, the increased Fe doping leads to an increased content of chemical adsorbed oxygen (OH) but a decline of Co 3+ species. The Fe 1.0 /CoOOH‐18/NF electrocatalyst with a moderate Fe doping exhibits an enhanced OER activity, with an overpotential of 249 mV, a Tafel slope of 47.4 mV dec −1 , and good stability. In situ Raman demonstrates that the abundant Co 3+ species together with the enhanced content of OH greatly facilitates the OER process. This study offers an effective strategy for design of highly efficient OER electrocatalysts.
