CePdIn2is found to crystallize in the orthorhombic space groupCmcm(Z= 4) witha= 4.6210(9) Å,b= 10.694(2) Å, andc= 7.455(2) Å. Single crystal X-ray data were refined toR1= 0.0459 (wR2= 0.0666), with 255 independent reflections and 16 variables. The structure adopts the BRe3structure type and is the first known Ce-containing member. Magnetic measurements indicate that CePdIn2undergoes a ferromagnetic phase transition with aTcnear 10 K. The electrical resistivity of CePdIn2shows metallic behavior with a small anomaly at the magnetic phase transition.
