A synthesis of modern concepts of repair of radiation damage with a well-known approach to enzyme kinetics is proposed. The resulting formulation provides an accurate prediction of the shape of critical dose-response curves and is in accord with the contemporary molecular biology of radiation action and its repair. The proposed model is more complex than the analogous formulation termed multitarget theory. It is, however, a necessary first step in the process of reconciling the intricate patterns of experimentally observed radiation response with theoretical models.
