A previous investigation of volatile isothiocyanates had produced evidence for the existence of two geographic races of Brassica juncea. The present paper records a reinvestigation of the taxonomy of B. juncea but, on this occasion, volatile oil distribution has been recorded by means of gas-liquid chromatography. In addition, seed proteins have been compared by means of electrophoretic and serological techniques. The bearing of the biochemical information upon the taxonomy of the species is discussed.
