The multiple trapping (MT) model is modified by introducing weak-coupling multiphonon trapping processes. This model is applied to the primary and secondary transient photocurrents occurring in a-Si:H. Previously reported experimental results can be explained with the aid of this model, and difficulties previously encountered in using the conventional MT models are overcome.
