Experimental study demonstrates that sulfur vapor treatment improves crystallinity and orientation in Ag-doped Sb2S3 films, indicating a pathway to 7.52% solar cell efficiency.
Hydrothermally deposited Ag-doped Sb 2 S 3 (Ag:Sb 2 S 3 ) thin films often contain an AgSbS 2 impurity phase and incomplete [hk1]-oriented, and and also suffer from a certain degree of sulfur loss. Here, we apply a short post-deposition sulfur vapor treatment to replenish sulfur deficiency. After treatment, the AgSbS 2 impurity phase disappears, and a fully [hk1]-oriented Ag:Sb 2 S 3 thin film is obtained without secondary phases. The treated thin film (Ag:Sb 2 S 3 –2) shows larger grain size, improved crystallinity, and unchanged bandgap. Dark I-V measurements confirm enhanced electron transport capability and higher electrical conductivity. A solar cell based on Ag: Sb 2 S 3 –2 achieves a photoelectric conversion efficiency of 7.52%.
