'lhis pilot study investigates the burden of caregiving to elderly cancer sufferers as perceived by the patients and their swuses. The study included 32 cancer patients aged 65+ in treatment 2 an oncologicai medical center in tbrthem Gael. A statistically similicant dilference was found between ~atients' and swuses' mad- i G of the burden. The spouses perceivedmthe burden of 'caregiviig as heavier than did Ihe patienls. No difference was found between male and female caregivers in their perceptions of the burden.
