This qualitative phenomenological study explores the lived experiences, awareness and coping strategies of individuals with mild dementia and their caregivers in Türkiye within a biopsychosocial framework. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with six individuals with mild dementia and six primary caregivers recruited from a public hospital in İstanbul. Data were analyzed using inductive content analysis. Findings revealed memory-related communication difficulties, emotional distress, social withdrawal, caregiver strain, anxiety, irritability, and safety concerns. Both groups emphasized the need for psychosocial support, particularly structured activites for older adults. The study highlights the importance of early community-based dementia support.
