Actinide Polyoxometalates: Incorporation of Uranyl–Peroxo in U‐Shaped 36‐Tungsto‐8‐Phosphate

U-shaped host for OUr guest: Two uranyl–peroxo squares [(UO2)(O2)]4 were incorporated into the hitherto unknown U-shaped “P6W36” Wells–Dawson ion. The 36-tungsto-8-phosphate [Li(H2O)K4(H2O)3{(UO2)4(O2)4-(H2O)2}2(PO3OH)2P6W36O136]25− (see picture) was synthesized by using the poorly investigated precursor [H6P4W24O94]18−. This work demonstrates that novel lacunary polytungstate ligands can be stabilized by exotic coordination complex templates.
