The essential oils of Mentha longifolia growing in the Sinai and Judean deserts were studied. Among the thirty-seven components identified in the oil of Sinai variety, 1,8-cineole (28.77%), piperitone (13.87%), cis-piperitone oxide (15.36%) and piperitone (13.84%), are the main ones. Pulegone accounts for over 70% of the oil from M. longifolia found in the Judean desert.
