The rigorous solution of a one-dimensional fluid binary mixture with arbitrary interparticle potentials is obtained under the assumption that a particle interacts with its nearest neighbors, and that the system obeys classical statistical mechanics. This rigorous solution provides the interpretation of parameters used in the lattice model of binary mixtures.
