Evolvulins I and II ( 1 and 2 ), representing a new class of resin glycosides with an unprecedented trihydroxy aglycone unit, 3 S,11 R,14 R -trihydroxyhexadecanoic acid ( 4 ), were isolated from the whole plants of Evolvulus alsinoides . Their structures were thoroughly characterized by extensive spectroscopic analyses as well as chemical evidence.
