The addition of 20 ppm trivalent chromium (Cr+3) to a corn-soybean meal diet significantly improved the growth rate of turkey poults from 7 to 21 days of age. Further addition of Cr+3 at 40 and 80 ppm had no added beneficial effect. Nicotinic acid supplemented at 250 ppm significantly improved growth rate and slightly improved feed efficiency. Cr+3 addition to nicotinic acid supplemented diets did not produce an additive effect with respect to rate of gain.
