By utilizing a laser monitoring observation technique, solubilities of betaine in various solvents including acetic acid, DMSO, ethylene glycol, 1-pentanol, and isoamyl alcohol were determined at varying temperatures. The experimental solubilities in solo solvents were regressed by λh (Buchowski) equation, van’t Hoff equation, Wilson model, and NRTL model, and the results show that the van’t Hoff equation was the best for fitting betaine’s solubilities. The change of dissolution Gibbs free energy of betaine in different solvents was predicted via the van’t Hoff equation.
