Key result
Alteplase and delayed PCI manage simultaneous acute anterior STEMI and left MCA ischemic stroke.
Why the study?
Simultaneous acute ST-elevation myocardial infarction and acute ischemic stroke is extremely rare and poses a unique therapeutic challenge because immediate treatment of one condition can delay or worsen the other.
Population
A 41-year-old female with simultaneous acute anterior STEMI and acute left middle cerebral artery ischemic stroke

Concurrent STEMI and stroke management is complex; this case leaves open optimal timing of thrombolysis with PCI in young patients.
Case Report (n=1)
Simultaneous acute STEMI and acute ischemic stroke is a rare event that poses a unique therapeutic challenge regarding the timing of thrombolysis and percutaneous coronary intervention.
Obaid et al. (2019) conducted a case report in Simultaneous acute anterior ST-elevation myocardial infarction and acute left middle cerebral artery ischemic stroke (n=1). Alteplase with delayed percutaneous coronary intervention was evaluated. A 41-year-old female with simultaneous acute anterior STEMI and acute left MCA ischemic stroke was treated with alteplase and delayed PCI, and discharged to a long-term care facility.
