Suprainguinal fascia iliaca block improves 24-hour QoR-15 scores by ~26 points versus saline in TKA.
Why the study?
Total knee arthroplasty often leads to significant postoperative pain requiring effective analgesia, and the effect of suprainguinal fascia iliaca block on Quality of Recovery-15 scores required evaluation.
Does suprainguinal fascia iliaca block with local anesthetic improve Quality of Recovery-15 scores in patients undergoing total knee arthroplasty?
RCT (n=60)

Yes
Does suprainguinal fascia iliaca block with local anesthetic improve Quality of Recovery-15 scores in patients undergoing total knee arthroplasty?
Absolute Event Rate: 124% vs 98%
p-value: p=<0.001
Suprainguinal fascia iliaca block with local anesthetic significantly improves the quality of recovery 24 hours after total knee arthroplasty compared to saline.
Supports incorporating suprainguinal fascia iliaca block into TKA multimodal regimens; extends regional anesthesia evidence for lower-extremity arthroplasty recovery.

Satıcı et al. (2025) conducted an RCT in Total knee arthroplasty (n=60). Suprainguinal fascia iliaca block (SIFIB) with local anesthetic vs. SIFIB with 40 ml saline solution was evaluated on Quality of recovery-15 (QoR-15) score 24 hours post-surgery (p=<0.001). Suprainguinal fascia iliaca block significantly improved the quality of recovery-15 score at 24 hours post-surgery compared to saline (median 124 vs 98, p<0.001) in total knee arthroplasty patients.
