Accurate subtraction of the nuclear contributions from the low-temperature heat capacity data is required to systematically discuss the thermodynamic properties of electronic systems. The excellent results obtained by analyzing the initial slopes of the heating and cooling curves in the heat capacity measurements demonstrate the promising potential of the initial-slope method and are expected to expand the applicability of heat capacity measurements. Possibilities for spectroscopic applications are also described.
