Unusual syncope in an adolescent athlete highlights the diagnostic challenges of CPVT.
Why the study?
Diagnosing catecholaminergic polymorphic ventricular tachycardia can be challenging due to a wide variety of clinical presentations.
Highlights the diagnostic challenges and unusual presentations of CPVT in adolescent athletes presenting with syncope.
Clinicians should consider CPVT in athletes with atypical syncope; single case leaves open optimal diagnostic strategies.
Catecholaminergic polymorphic ventricular tachycardia (CPVT) is a channelopathy which can lead to fatal ventricular arrhythmias. The diagnosis can be challenging due to a wide variety of clinical presentations. In this case, we describe the unusual presentation and subsequent workup of a young patient who was ultimately diagnosed with CPVT.
