The paper deals with the phytoplankton long-term dynamics in a large lowland reservoir under the global climate change (case-study of Kaniv Reservoir, Ukraine). The field studies were carried out in summer seasons of two years (2017 and 2019), with different temperature deviation from the climatic norm. The results have been compared with the retrospective data of the last century. The phytoplankton response to the global climate warming comprises: raise of the total cell count; increase of the Cyanobacteria biomass and their portion in the community's total biomass; dropdown of the Bacillariophyta biomass; changes in the dominant complex structure; increase of the small-sized species portion. The percent portion of Cyanobacteria biomass appeared to be the most representative indicator of the climate change, which is in line with the data obtained by other researchers on different water reservoirs across the globe from the temperate to tropical zone.
