A new occurrence of vein clearing, chlorosis, mottling, curly leaves, narrow leaves, and vertically upright shoot symptoms was observed in peanuts. This study aimed to identify the causal agent of the peanut vein clearing disease (PVC). The sequencing analysis showed that peanut plants were infected by potato virus Y (PVY), and this was the first occurrence in Indonesia. This isolate was strongly genetically related to the potato virus Y JBT15 isolate from Spain and EM160661 isolate from France. Initial screening showed that three of the ten cultivars were categorized as resistant: Hypoma 4, Takar 2, and Gundul. Infected peanut cultivars followed the monomolecular disease progression model.
