The paper presents a route optimization algorithm based on the sequence and location of public transport stops and a road network map. It uses an abstract graph to calculate the least expen-sive path from the first to the last stop of a constrained route. The algorithm is able to process multiple routes and modes of transport, combine them at a transport hub, automatically reconstruct missing links in the network, and provide intelligent and effective feedback in case of obvious errors. GPS tracks or mapping should be used to improve the quality of the results
