Key result

Why the study?
The diagnosis of pulmonary intravascular tumor emboli is difficult to establish clinically and on conventional radiographic studies.

May suggest tumor emboli on CT when peripheral pulmonary arteries are dilated and beaded; leaves open prospective validation.
Case Report (n=4)
The finding of dilated and beaded peripheral pulmonary arteries on chest CT is highly suggestive of metastatic intravascular tumor emboli.
Shepard et al. (1993) conducted a case report in Pulmonary intravascular tumor emboli (n=4). Computed tomographic (CT) scans was evaluated on CT findings of pulmonary intravascular tumor emboli. Computed tomography demonstrated multifocal dilatation and beading of peripheral pulmonary arteries in all 4 patients with pulmonary intravascular tumor emboli.
