The use of advanced, high performance, polymeric composites in wind turbine applications is increasing due to the demand for larger turbine blades for increased energy generation from renewable resources. With it, more challenges are arising for the engineers involved in the design and manufacturing of the structures. Some of these challenges are comprehensively investigated within the framework of an industry consortium partly funded by the UK's Technology Strategy Board.
