I am writing to follow up on two previous publications in Physiotherapy Practice (Bohannon, 1987; Bohannon, 1988). In the first, core journals of physiotherapy were identified by citation analysis of four physiotherapy journals, including Physiotherapy Practice. In the second, five indexing services were discussed in relation to their potential usefulness in finding references for a publication. Underlying both publications was the assumption that physiotherapists stand to benefit from a knowledge of current information sources. Such knowledge can help them to access information that can impact directly on the patient care provided by clinicians, the instructional material provided by educators, and the questions formulated by researchers. The purpose of this letter is to summarise and discuss the results of an analysis of the source journals indexed in Physiotherapy Index in 1988.
