Observational study reveals links between trauma subtypes and poor sexual health outcomes in transgender women, suggesting trauma drives infection risks.
Transgender women are disproportionately affected by sexually transmitted infections (STIs), likely shaped by trauma. In 105 participants, multiple trauma subtypes were linked to lower HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis awareness, lifetime STI history, and recent STI testing. Trauma may contribute to the ongoing STI burden in this population.
