A new variational theory is developed for an ideal relativistic spin fluid as a Cosserat continuous medium, the constituent matter elements of which possess miscrostructural degrees of freedom that manifest internal spin. The generalized hydrodynamic equations of motion and the conservation laws for the dynamical currents are derived on arbitrary curved spacetime manifolds.
