In order to avoid confusion over the definition of gastric polyps clinically and pathologically, all lesions protruding into the lumen of the stomach, including gastric polyps, were termed. “elevated lesions” of the stomach. In 217 cases, elevated lesions were classified into four types according to macroscopic profile at the base. Their morphology was also studied. Type, size, and morphological findings are useful in differentiating benign from malignant lesions. Preoperative evaluation of elevated lesions is possible via double contrast and compression radiography.
