The diffraction of an E-polarized and an H-polarized plane wave by an imperfectly conducting metallic strip on which are imposed impedance boundary conditions is considered. The two independent problems are solved by a method due to Jones based on the Wiener-Hopf technique, and expressions for the extinction cross section are given in ascending powers of the reciprocal of the wave number.
