WE propose that the relative cross sections for the reaction processes {η}p,{η}'p{→}{η}p,{η}'p,K⁺{Λ} and π^-p{→}{η}n,{η}'n, induced by pseudoscalar mesons on a proton target, provide a sensitive test for the presence of a strange-antistrange (ss{}) quark component in the nucleon's wave function.
