Summary The effects of nitrous oxide diffusion on tracheal tube cuff pressure following inflation with air and saline were studied at a temperature of 37°C. The pressure in the cuff inflated with air increased more rapidly and to a higher level (about 200 mmHg) than pressure in the cuffs inflated with saline (about 12 mmHg).
