Wound complications were significantly higher in the layered closure group (37.7%) compared to the mass closure group (17%).
Closures performed with Prolene sutures resulted in more wound complications (37.7%) than those using PDS sutures (20%), while continuous and interrupted techniques showed similar complication rates.
Among evaluated comorbidities, pulmonary complications were linked to the highest frequency of wound-related adverse events (13.3%).
