The interest and accuracy of using the physical absorption of hydrogen to determine k L a in small batch reactors (25−300 cm 3 ) are revisited. The results are compared with those obtained by carrying out the hydrogenation of α-methylstyrene, a fast chemical reaction with known intrinsic kinetics.
