Nano calcium milk increases femur stiffness ~25% versus control in ovariectomized rats.
Why the study?
The effects of calcium supplemented milk, especially nano calcium, on bone loss in ovariectomized rats were examined to explore potential enhancements in bone calcium metabolism.
Does nano Ca supplemented milk improve bone calcium metabolism in ovariectomized rats?
Does nano Ca supplemented milk improve bone calcium metabolism in ovariectomized rats?

Nano calcium supplementation in milk may effectively enhance bone calcium metabolism and bone mineral density in ovariectomized rats.
Hypothesis-generating in ovariectomized rats; human trials needed before considering nano calcium milk for postmenopausal bone health.

Park et al. (2007) studied Ovariectomy-induced bone loss (osteoporosis model) (n=24). Nano calcium supplemented milk vs. No Ca supplemented milk (control), Ca carbonate supplemented milk, or ionized Ca supplemented milk was evaluated on Femur stiffness (N/mm) (p=<0.05). Nano calcium supplemented milk significantly increased femur bone mineral density, stiffness, and trabecular bone area compared to control and other calcium sources in ovariectomized rats.
