An additional family is reported with the association of bilateral pheochromocytoma, bilateral medullary carcinoma of the thyroid with amyloid stroma, and bilateral parathyroid adenomas. The propositus also had a ganglioneuroma in the right adrenal area and had Parkinson's disease. In the patients with pheochromocytoma and parathyroid adenoma, a thyroid carcinoma had been uniformly present (100%). In addition, when parathyroid adenoma and pheochromocytoma are present, the likelihood of bilateral pheochromocytoma (84%) and multiple parathyroid adenomas (42%) should be borne in mind by the surgeon.
