Does Advisor HD Grid-based ExTRa Mapping show spatial concordance with the discontinued Reflexion HD catheter in patients with persistent atrial fibrillation?
This study aims to validate the use of the Advisor HD Grid catheter for ExTRa Mapping in persistent AF by comparing its spatial concordance with the previously used Reflexion HD catheter.
In contrast to conventional voltage, activation, or fractionation mapping, ExTRa Mapping (Nihon Kohden, Tokyo, Japan) is a real-time phase-mapping technology that visualizes intra-atrial non-passive activation during atrial fibrillation (AF). Substantial clinical evidence was generated using the Reflexion HD catheter (Abbott, St. Paul, MN, USA) (REF).1,2 However, REF has been discontinued, and Advisor HD Grid (Abbott; HDG)–based ExTRa Mapping is increasingly used. In ExTRa Mapping, %NP quantifies the proportion of recording time showing meandering rotor or multiple-wavelet activity and has been investigated as an AF-maintaining substrate marker.

Suzuki et al. (2026) conducted an observational in Persistent Atrial Fibrillation. Advisor HD Grid-based ExTRa Mapping vs. Reflexion HD catheter was evaluated on Spatial concordance of %NP. The abstract provides background on ExTRa Mapping in persistent atrial fibrillation but reports no quantitative results comparing the Advisor HD Grid and Reflexion HD catheters.
