Experimental evaluation demonstrates neutron energy deposition spectra in Timepix3 and silicon diode detectors, indicating accurate modeling using FLUKA and G4SEE Monte Carlo tools.
The neutron induced event-by-event energy deposition distribution in the Timepix3 radiation monitor (RadMon) and a silicon diode detector is investigated using an AmBe source, to evaluate the performance of the detectors within the radiation to electronics (R2E) activities at European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN). The measured energy deposition spectra are compared with Monte Carlo simulations performed with the FLUKA 4.3 release and the G4SEE application, both using a point-wise treatment of neutron induced reactions.
