Key result
Longitudinal model incorporating six time-varying biological indicators predicts daily sepsis mortality with an AUC of 0.90.
Why the study?
The ability of time-varying biological indicators to predict sepsis mortality risk over time and generate mortality risk profiles was not established.
Observational (n=356)
Yes

Liaw et al. (2019) conducted an observational in Sepsis (n=356). Time-varying biological indicators was evaluated on Predictive power for daily mortality risk (area under the curve) (AUC 0.90, 95% CI 0.86-0.94). A longitudinal model incorporating six time-varying biological indicators and contextual variables accurately predicted daily mortality risk in septic patients (AUC 0.90; 95% CI 0.86-0.94).
