The selective binding of cyclobisacridine (CBA) to DNA duplexes containing a stable analogue of the abasic site was demonstrated by Tm, EPR, and photocleavage experiments. The abasic site recognition was evidenced by cleavage of an oligonucleotide containing an apurinic site.
