21,609 patients admitted to the department of oral surgery of a Swedish university hospital during one decade were investigated for hyperodontia. In 344 of these patients with a total of 422 supernumerary teeth, there were 339 maxillary incisors, 39 mandibular premolars, 19 maxillary molars, 11 mandibular incisors, 7 maxillary premolars and 7 mandibular molars. The ratio of males to females was 1.7:1.
