May support conservative management in SCAD with EDS; hypothesis-generating and requires prospective validation before practice change.
Case Report (n=1)
This case highlights the importance of evaluating for underlying connective tissue disorders such as Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome in young, otherwise healthy patients presenting with spontaneous coronary artery dissection.
Nesheiwat et al. (2019) conducted a case report in Spontaneous Coronary Artery Dissection (n=1). Conservative medical management (dual antiplatelet therapy and statin) was evaluated. Conservative medical management with dual antiplatelet therapy and a statin was successfully used to treat a 38-year-old female with spontaneous coronary artery dissection and undiagnosed Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome.
