CT and MRI diagnose incidental lipomatous hypertrophy of the interatrial septum with ventricular fatty replacement.
Why the study?
Lipomatous hypertrophy of the interatrial septum is a rare benign condition with limited reports on its association with fatty replacement of the ventricular myocardium.
Case Report (n=1)
This case highlights a rare presentation of lipomatous hypertrophy of the interatrial septum with concurrent ventricular myocardial fatty replacement and epicardial mediastinal lipomatosis identified via multimodality imaging.

Alerts clinicians to rare lipomatous variants on routine imaging; leaves open questions on prevalence and outcomes.
Arroyuelos et al. (2007) conducted a case report in Lipomatous hypertrophy of the interatrial septum (LHIS) (n=1). Computed tomography (CT) and MRI was evaluated on Diagnosis of LHIS associated with fatty replacement of the ventricular myocardium and epicardial mediastinal lipomatosis. Computed tomography and MRI successfully diagnosed an incidental case of lipomatous hypertrophy of the interatrial septum associated with fatty replacement of the ventricular myocardium.
