Key result
Three different cTnI assays yield highly discordant concentrations in a patient without ACS.
Why the study?
Accurate and precise measurement of cardiac troponin I concentration is critical for diagnosing myocardial infarction and risk assessment in ACS and unstable angina, but assay variability can occur.
Case Report (n=1)
Different cardiac troponin I assays can yield significantly different results, highlighting the potential for assay interference and the lack of comparability between methods.

Vlah et al. (2013) conducted a case report in Elevated cardiac troponin I without Acute Coronary Syndrome (n=1). Three different cTnI assay methods was evaluated on cTnI concentrations. Measurement of cardiac troponin I using three different assays yielded significantly different concentrations (0.62, 0.13, and 0.89 microg/L) in a patient without acute coronary syndrome.
