MCE aids clinical decision-making during ASA for HOCM.
Why the study?
Although myocardial contrast echocardiography is recommended to guide alcohol septal ablation in HOCM, it has not been widely adopted in clinical practice.
Myocardial contrast echocardiography is useful in guiding decision-making during alcohol septal ablation for hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy.
May aid procedural guidance in alcohol septal ablation; hypothesis-generating from three cases and requires prospective validation.
Alcohol septal ablation (ASA) is an effective treatment for symptomatic hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy (HOCM). Although routine use of myocardial contrast echocardiography (MCE) in guiding ASA has been recommended by guidelines, it has not come into common clinical practice. Here, we present three cases of HOCM where MCE helped in decision-making.
