BiO 0.09 F 2.82 and β ‐ PbF 2 : AgF are suitable fluoride conducting electrolytes for application in galvanic cells. A simple fabrication method for the cell Pb / β ‐ PbF 2 : AgF / BiO 0.09 F 2.82 / Bi is described. Open‐circuit voltages are in accord with a theoretical value of 0.33V based on the cell reaction 3 Pb + 2 BiF 3 → 3 PbF 2 + 2 Bi . Cells were discharged in the temperature region 298°–375°K with current densities of 12–63 mA/m 2 . Short‐circuit currents range from 15.7 to 386 mA/m 2 . Relatively constant load‐circuit voltages were attained over periods of days.
