Key result
Multimodal prehabilitation undergoes Cochrane protocol evaluation for safety and effectiveness in colorectal cancer resection.
Why the study?
The effectiveness and safety of multimodal prehabilitation compared to no prehabilitation in colorectal cancer patients undergoing resection were uncertain.

Population
Colorectal cancer patients undergoing resection
Comparison
Multimodal prehabilitation program versus no prehabilitation
Design
Protocol for a Cochrane Review (Intervention)
Prehabilitation efficacy for colorectal cancer resection remains unproven; protocol leaves open need for evidence synthesis before practice change.
This is a protocol for a Cochrane Review (Intervention). The objectives are as follows: To assess the effectiveness of a (multimodal) prehabilitation program versus no prehabilitation for colorectal cancer patients undergoing resection. We will study whether prehabilitation is safe and effective to enhance functional capacity, to reduce postoperative complications and to improve quality of life.
